Man charged in attempted burglary

A 46-year-old man with 16 prior convictions and no permanent address was charged today with misdeameanor criminal trespassing and property damage for allegedly attempting to break in to an Umi Street residence in Kalihi.

Pedro O. Ortiz Jr. was arrested Tuesday after a witness called police to report a man was using a crowbar to gain entrance into a home. Ortiz was initially arrested for felony first-degree burglary but was charged on misdemeanor counts with bail at $4,000.
