SAN DIEGO — Howzit, everybody.

I'm training in this place in Carlsbad, in San Diego, getting ready for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

I'm getting excited. They're bringing in different groups at different times. The defensive backs are the last group. I leave Saturday and get there Saturday night. I'll stay there Sunday, Monday, and then Tuesday I fly out after I run. Everybody stays there three to four days.

I signed with this guy, Joe Palumbo, who lives in San Diego. One of his clients is Chris Pino from San Diego State. He's in the NFL right now with the Baltimore Ravens. The Utah quarterback, Brett Ratliff, and the BYU tight end, Daniel Coats, are training with me.

The tight end has his wife and kids here, so they stay in the house. So me and the Utah quarterback stay in the hotel. It's close to the facility, Velocity.

We have free time, but I don't do anything. I'm here strictly to prepare for the combine. I'm not here to see places or do stuff.

We work out every day from 8 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon.

We do a lot of bench-press stuff, focusing on the chest and triceps. We do a lot of running, a lot of agility stuff.

Right now, I'm not trying to get bigger. I'm trying to work on the shuttles, the 40-yard dash, the vertical jump and the long jump. It's OK. It's different lifting than what I usually do because it's geared toward reps instead of strength.

I think the first two days will be used for testing. I'm sure they'll do all of the heights and weights at that time. I don't know my height, but I weigh about 214, 215.

I feel good. I'm healthy. My rib injury is gone. It's been gone for a long time.

I'm not sure where they want me to play, but I hope it's strong safety. I had a chance to play free safety this year, but I'd rather play strong safety. I'll play whatever they want. If they need a waterboy, I'll be a waterboy.

I brought some stuff up here to make me feel at home. I brought ti leaves with me. I brought reggae CDs and local CDs. That's been working, but it's getting old, if you know what I mean.

Velocity gets us a full breakfast and lunch. We have to get our own dinner. There's an L&L up here, but there's nothing like an L&L back home. Over here, it's kind of different. I miss home.
