Man arrested in tie to theft of items from car

A 31-year-old man was arrested in an 'Ewa Beach neighborhood early this morning after an area resident who was returning home felt the man's actions were suspicious.

The resident, a 30-year-old man, called police about 2 a.m. to say a stranger was acting suspiciously in a cul-de-sac near his home.

Responding police officers stopped the older man near where the incident had been reported and learned he had been spotted placing a bag into a van.

A 51-year-old woman who lives in the area later identified the items in the bag as having been taken from her vehicle.

The man stopped by police was then arrested on suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs.
