HAWAI'I KAI
OK sought for encroachment

Advertiser Staff

A Portlock resident is seeking city approval to build two homes on 1.38 acres on Portlock Road with a portion of the homes encroaching into the 40-foot shoreline setback.

As part of the approval process, the city will hold a public hearing on the shoreline setback variance at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the seventh-floor conference room at the Department of Planning and Permitting, 650 S. King St.

The owner, Katsumi Tada, Daisho Co. Ltd., also plans to build a silt-retention basin and percolation pond to keep stormwater runoff from entering Maunalua Bay.

A copy of the project's environmental assessment is available at the Hawai'i Kai Public Library.
