LAHAINA
Mala boat ramp to get dredging

Advertiser Staff

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting Wednesday on plans to dredge the Mala boat ramp.

The meeting will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lahaina Intermediate School.

Anyone requiring special assistance, such sign-language interpreters, should contact Ed Underwood in Honolulu at 587-1967 or Hal Silva on Maui at (808) 662-4060.

Approximately 3,300 cubic yards of sand will be dredged from the boat ramp to improve navigability, said DLNR chairman Peter Young. The project will be put out for bid in April.

The last dredging was in 1999.
