NORTH SHORE
Land-use plan input welcomed

Advertiser Staff

Kamehameha Schools is working with members of the community to develop a land-use plan for its 26,000 acres on the North Shore that would guide the trust through the next few decades.

The property, from Kawailoa to Hale'iwa, includes conservation, agriculture and urban land, said Kamehameha Schools spokesman Kekoa Paulsen. The trust wants to hear from people about what they want and don't want there, Paulsen said.

Suggestions so far include biofuel feed stock, more small farms and some educational and cultural components.

A preliminary plan could be out by May, he said.
