2 former UH football players taken in NFL Europa draft

The Amsterdam Admirals selected former University of Hawai'i players Tanuvasa "T.J." Moe and Abraham Elimimian in the 2007 NFL Europa free agent draft on Friday.

Moe, a long-snapper/linebacker, was selected in the fifth round, and Elimimian, who played for the Admirals last year, was picked in the 13th round.

They will report to training camp in two weeks.

"It's a good feeling," said Moe, who completed his UH eligibility in December 2005.

He said he will be used primarily as a snapper.

"That's 100 percent fine with me," Moe said. "That's the best ticket to the NFL."

Last year, Elimimian signed with the Chicago Bears, who assigned him to Amsterdam. Elimimian was part of the Bears' last round of cuts.

"The Bears are a first-class organization, and I was happy to see the players make it to the Super Bowl," Elimimian said.

Elimimian said he decided to apply for the NFL Europa draft rather than seek a free-agent tryout with an NFL team.

"It's better to go this route," he said. "I'll try to help us win a championship, and whatever happens, happens."
