Vice chancellor for academic affairs leaving UH-Manoa

Neal J. Smatresk, the vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, has taken a position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

On June 1 he will join UNLV as its executive vice president and provost, the school said today.

He will be responsible for overseeing UNLV's academy and budgetary policies, ensuring quality of the faculty and student body, and expanding the research enterprise at the school.

Smatresk had been with UH since February 2004.
