OAHU VOTES HAWAIIAN TELCOM YELLOW PAGES #1 DIRECTORY

Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages Earns Top Spot in Oahu Syndicated Usage Study

HONOLULU – (www.HTYellowPages.com) – The Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages is the most-used yellow pages directory in Hawaii, according to a 2006 survey of Oahu residents conducted by Knowledge Networks/SRI and published by the Yellow Pages Market ReporterSM, an independent yellow pages industry market measurement service. The survey was jointly sponsored by all three of Hawaii's competing telephone directory companies.

The results show that Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages has a significant lead in usage over its nearest local competitor. Fifty-five percent* of Yellow Pages users surveyed named a Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages directory in reply to a Knowledge Networks/SRI interviewer's question about which was the last phone directory they used.

"We have worked hard over these past two years to provide the most accurate, up-to-date directories, with information the community wants and needs," said Ron Montgomery, vice president and general manager of Hawaiian Telcom Directories. "We are pleased that this authoritative survey validates our efforts and demonstrates that Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages is Hawaii's local directory of choice."

In addition to the Knowledge Networks/SRI survey, a local research company (FAQ Hawaii, Inc., in cooperation with University of Hawaii Professor Dana L. Alden, Ph.D.) contracted by Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages conducted a complementary study in January which focused on slightly different measures – "possession and usage" – and found that the Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages directory had a usage rate (i.e., the directory consumers use most often) nearly four times as high as its closest competitor, and a possession rate of 82 percent, which is approximately 20 percent more than its next competitor.

"The Knowledge Networks/SRI research is another example showing that Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages is the directory of choice in Hawaii," said Montgomery. "We have been Hawaii's directory for over 100 years and have striven to include valuable additional information in our directories that people depend on, and we plan to continue looking for still other ways to make our directories meet the needs of our local customers."

The Knowledge Networks/SRI survey measured usage of printed yellow pages directories in the Hawaii market. The survey did not factor in the growing use of Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages' Internet Yellow Pages (HTYellowPages.com) or its CD-ROM directories.
