Three 'Dog Night as Kaimuki stuns Punahou, wins state

The Hawaiian Airlines/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I final was before 6,516 fans.

It was Kaimuki's second state basketball title, the first came in 1993, when the Bulldogs were led by international players.

Reyes scored 21 points despite missing significant playing time. Albrechtson had 16 points and 16 rebounds and Colon had 11 points.

The game was tied at 28 at halftime, despite star forward Reyes missing most of the second quarter with three fouls. At one point in the third quarter, Reyes had missed eight minutes of game time.

Kaimuki relied by going inside to Albrectson, who helped the Bulldogs build a 38-35 lead entering the fourth period.

Kaimuki then went on a 10-1 run for a 48-36 lead and Punahou never got within seven.
