WAI'ANAE
School pool to get $500,000 fix

Advertiser Staff

Work crews at Wai'anae High School have started preliminary assessment studies for an estimated $500,000 project to repair the school's 33-year-old swimming pool, which has been shut down.

The 225,000-gallon, 13-foot-deep pool needs a complete overhaul of its plumbing, electrical, piping and filter systems, vice principal Andrew Szkotak has said.

Szkotak said the school has allocated money for the extensive work, which he said won't begin for six to eight months.

He added that the repair work needs to be done because students are looking forward to using the pool again.
