KALIHI
Grocery Outlet closing its doors

Advertiser Staff

Frugal shoppers will lose a bastion of bargains in Kalihi when Grocery Outlet closes at the end of March.

The closure means 30 employees will be out of work.

Owner Albert Respicio said he is closing after losing the lease to his 20,000-square-foot store at City Square Shopping Center on Dillingham Boulevard.

He said it would be too costly to find another location. To clear out his merchandise quickly, Respicio has marked everything down by as much as 30 percent.

The store, which opened a decade ago, is the only Grocery Outlet in the Islands. Nationally, there are some 120 independently operated Grocery Outlets.
