Mililani teen killed in wreck identified

The Honolulu Police Department has launched a negligent homicide investigation into the death last night of Gillian Badua, 17, of Mililani.Badua was killed around 9:20 p.m. when the northbound, red 1994 Volkswagen Jetta in which she was a back seat passenger went out of control and slammed into a tree at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Lanikuhana Avenue and Lea Place, police said. Badua was dead at the scene, they said.
An 18-year-old man riding in the front passenger seat was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. The 21-year-old man who was driving was also taken to Queen's in serious condition, police said. Both men were also from Mililani, they said.
