Martin Scorsese finally wins an Oscar for best director

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Martin Scorsese finally won the best-director Academy Award that had eluded him throughout his illustrious career, taking the prize Sunday for his mob epic "The Departed" after five previous losses.

Other winners so far:

Best actor: Forest Whitaker for "The Last King of Scotland."

Best actress: Helen Mirren for "The Queen."

Best documentary: "An Inconvenient Truth."

Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin, "Little Miss Sunshine"

Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson, "Dreamgirls"
