Starwood names Orr GM of Sheraton Princess Kaiulani

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has named Fred Orr general manager of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani where he will oversee a major renovation scheduled to begin in 2009.This is a new position for Orr, who recently served as managing director of the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for six years.
"Fred will provide the experience, vision and leadership needed as we embark on this exciting project that will revitalize and reposition the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani in Waikiki," said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations Hawai'i and French Polynesia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. "Because of his long history with the hotel, he also knows the property very well and has a strong relationship with its employees."
He oversaw the 50th anniversary celebration at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and 100th anniversary celebration at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. In 2005, Sheraton Moana Surfrider was honored as hotel of the year and top-performing property in food and beverage sales among the Starwood Hawaii region. Also in 2005, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani was awarded operation innovation for the region.
Orr joined the Sheraton Corporation in 1968 as assistant manager at Sheraton Moana Surfrider, and was there for the complete renovation of that hotel.
