Aloha Petroleum sells ethanol-free gas to boat owners

Advertiser Staff

Aloha Petroleum today announced it now is delivering gasoline without ethanol to marinas to serve the needs of Hawai'i's boating community. The non-ethanol-blended gasoline, called "Aloha Classic Gasoline," is available for deliveries on O'ahu and the Big Island.

Aloha Classic Gasoline is rated at least 89-octane and contains a detergent additive. It will be distributed only to marinas and marine suppliers with approved storage tanks.

Aloha Petroleum President Bob Maynard said the decision to market Aloha Classic Gasoline is a response to numerous requests from boaters who have experienced problems running ethanol-blended gasoline in their marine engines. Boaters have reported that ethanol-blended fuel has damaged fiberglass gas tanks, clogged fuel intakes and carburetors and stalled boat engines.
