Authorities in Honolulu today charged an 83-year-old Canadian man with killing his wife, one of the oldest people ever charged in Hawai'i with murder.

Ted Jandura of Edmonton is accused of killing his wife, 82, Sunday in a time-share apartment at the Ilikai Waikiki Hotel. His bail is $1 million.

Jandura was arrested Sunday after police went to his apartment at 9:25 a.m. to investigate a complaint of an argument. Police said Jandura told officers, "I think I killed my wife."

His wife had been stabbed mutiple times, officials said.

The Janduras have been coming to Hawai'i for many years. They have been at the Ilikai unit since Dec. 12 and planned to return to Edmonton in March.
