Gay civil unions supporter to address Interfaith group

Advertiser Staff

Debi Hartmann will discuss "Devout in My Faith, Engaged in the Politic, Finding a Comfortable Nexus" at the Interfaith Open Table.

Hartmann once lead Hawai'i's Future Today, a conservative group who opposed gay marriage. In a dramatic turn, she is now working with gay activists to enact civil unions that carry the same rights as traditional marriage.

Interfaith Open Table meets 7 a.m. March 7 at Temple Emanu-el, 2550 Pali Highway.

Also, Judy Rantala, former executive director of the University of Hawai'i YWCA and now head of the Hawai'i Coalition Against Legalized Gambling, shares her faith journey.
