Slam poets will compete Thursday to qualify for finals

Slam poets will square off Thursday night in Ala Moana for a chance to compete at the 2007 National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas.The top two slam poets at the event, set for 8:30 p.m. at the Hawaiian Hut at the Ala Moana Hotel, will qualify for the Hawai'iSlam Finals on April 5.
The winners of the statewide contest will form a team to represent the Islands in the national poetry slam.
Admission for the event is $3 before 8:30 p.m., and $5 if you walk through the doors after the show starts.
