The extensive renovation project started in October 2006 and is expected to be completed by late spring 2007.

Officials said the refurbishing project will be seen inside and out: from new furniture and guest services to a repaved parking lot and new exterior lights.

So far crews have completed the installation of a new telephone system, pay-per-view movies, wireless Internet access in rooms, Internet computer kiosk in the lobby, and a computerized card key security system. The painting of all rooms and bathroom upgrades are in progress.

Planners call the new interior design "tropical with a Polynesian flair" which includes new teak furniture, a refurbished bar and lobby.
