  • "COMPUTERS FOR SENIORS: An Intro to E-mail and Internet," will be offered by Windward Community College, 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays, this week through March 14. Seniors will be offered an introduction to the use of e-mail using Outlook Express; e-mail attachments and Internet searching techniques.   • Marketing techniques that can increase a business' visibility and profits will be offered at a half-day "HAWAI'I MARKETING SEMINAR," sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i and the American Marketing Association's local chapter. Among topics will be successful business branding and e-mail marketing campaigns; the choice of "mass marketing" vis-a-vis a targeted audience, direct mail vs. print advertising, and television vs. radio advertising; marketing your company via the Internet, and using an eCommerce Web site; and the successful use of public relations.   • The Hawai'i Women's Business Center will host a "STATE AND FEDERAL TAX PROCEDURES WORKSHOP" focusing on the "what, when and where" of filing business taxes — including general excise and use taxes.     Improving salesmanship and marketing skills, including your "business' elevator pitch" — the short "come-on" an business owner would say to a prospective investor or customer if they found themselves together briefly in an elevator — will be the focus of an upcoming workshop, sponsored by High Technology Development Corporation. The seminar, "Can You Tell Your Story, An Introduction To Honing Your Elevator Pitch," is scheduled 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday (registration, 9:30 a.m.) at the Manoa Innovation Center's Presentation Room.   • "Tuning up your target market" — and ideas, information, techniques and advice from business and marketing experts — will be the focus of a two-hour free seminar, the first in a planned series, "Designs for Success: 2007 Small Business Series," sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The kick-off event, "Marketing 2007: Make It Good, Better, Best," is scheduled 8:30-10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the new Honolulu Design Center's Cupola Events Theatre, 1250 Kapi'olani Blvd. Presenters include David Tyreman, owner of "World Famous!" — who rose from penniless to multimillionaire and whose subjects such as "Branding on Steroids," and "Business Ergonomics," inspire business owners to stand out and engage the marketplace in creative ways — and Patt Steiner, executive director of the Hawai'i Women's Business Center; as well as representatives of the SBA.   • Insights into Hawai'i's energy future — with an emphasis on clean, renewable, local energy — will be provided Thursday at a meeting of THE EXCHANGE CLUB OF DOWNTOWN HONOLULU.
