Woman's body found near pond

 •  Gun fired, man's body found on Big Isle

The body of a 56-year-old woman was discovered yesterday near the fishpond at Kahana Bay.

Two men from Kane'ohe found the body lying face down at about 2 p.m. The case has been turned over to homicide investigation.

There were some signs of injuries. An autopsy will be performed today.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office tentatively identified the woman but would not release her name before it was confirmed.


MEN POINT GUNS AT EACH OTHER BY H-2

Multiple charges are pending against a man who was arrested yesterday morning after police responded to a call of two men pointing guns at each other on the side of H-2 Freeway, near the Ka Uka Boulevard exit ramp.

The 38-year-old Wai'anae man, who has eight prior convictions, was booked on firearms counts. He was arrested at 8:53 a.m.

A second man, Paul Andrew Burghardt, 34, of Salt Lake, was charged with misdemeanor illegal use of an air gun. He was released at 1:15 p.m. after posting $2,000 bail. Burghardt's appearance is scheduled March 14 at 'Ewa District Court.


MAN, 23, ARRESTED IN KALIHI BURGLARY

A man arrested by Kalihi patrol officers early Friday morning inside a Honolulu seafood business building was charged yesterday with burglary. Byron Williams, 23, was being held in lieu of $11,000 bail. He was arrested at 2:58 a.m. Friday by officers responding to a security alarm call. Officers said they saw him crawling out of a window before going back inside the building.


GOLF CLUB ATTACK LEADS TO CHARGES

An 18-year-old man was charged Saturday with hitting another man with a golf club during an argument Thursday in 'Ewa Beach.

Kawika A. Gonsalves of 'Ewa Beach is charged with assault and terroristic threatening. His bail is $11,000.

The 40-year-old man he is accused of assaulting suffered unspecified injuries.


YOUTHS BOOKED IN SCHOOL ROBBERY

Police said they arrested two juveniles yesterday after they were seen carrying a box from a classroom at a Kapolei-area school.

The youths were booked for burglary at 9:45 a.m. and released pending further investigation for Family Court action.
