AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOMELESS ALLIANCE

Intake volunteers wanted for The Windward Resource Center helping Hawai'i's homeless transition from 8:00 am to noon on Tuesdays. Volunteers will be also be needed for start-up and ongoing support for two other resource sites opening in Hale'iwa and Wai'anae.

    BISHOP MUSEUM

    Lost Maritime Civilizations of Ancient China — The extraordinary archaeological discoveries in southeast China and the shared history between prehistoric China and the Pacific will be revealed in this exhibition. The maritime civilizations that flourished from 7,000 to 3,000 years ago finally came to light when modern archaeology started in China about half a century ago. Training 10 a.m. to noon with Tianlong Jiao.

    Exhibit gallery/information desk attendants — welcome visitors and enhance their experience with our exciting quilt exhibition. Attendants will escort visitors into the Chamberlain House and share a bit of information about its exhibit. Information desk attendants will greet visitors and provide information about the museum's exhibits and house tours.

    THE CENTER — HAWAI'I

    Gay Pride volunteers for the 18th annual Honolulu Pride Festival and Parade on June 2. This festival will be held at McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Beach Park and is the one time of the year when all LGBT people on O'ahu gather to celebrate who we are. Attendance averages about 1,000 people. We need volunteers to serve on the planning committee to solicit entertainers and LGBT organizations to sponsor booths.

    Lesbian support (peer) group leader to rotate through leadership of the group one evening a month on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Center.

    Newsletter editor, layout, copy editing for The Outlook, the quarterly newsletter of The Center, connecting the 3,000 plus LGBT people on our mailing list.

    CHRISTMAS WISH PROGRAM INC.

    Bunny bag sewers for homeless keiki seeking groups, or people who would like to make cute bunny bags for our keiki to collect their Easter eggs in. We need about 500 bags. These bags should be 10 by 10 inches or 12 by 12 inches or so ... and have easy handles or drawstrings for the keiki to hold while hunting. Each bag should hold about 15 plastic eggs, a bar of soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.

    East egg hunt & luncheon for homeless keiki committee for Big Island and O'ahu. We need committee chairpeople and volunteers to help with various tasks. This includes the following areas: 1. Food/collection, and prep and serving 2. Games: collecting prizes and running games 3. Arts & crafts: creating, collecting and helping. 4. Egg hunt.

    Face-painters for benefit event celebrating the 10th anniversary at Wal-Mart in Hilo. We will be creating awareness by handing our brochures and face-painting for donations. We are looking for some creative, fun-loving people to help paint faces for a few hours.

    Campaign coordinator - Healthy Hearts for Homeless Keiki to collect new athletic shoes and socks for our homeless keiki throughout February. Our goal is to collect 100 pairs of tennis shoes to give to the keiki on Feb. 25. Every month, we have a hot lunch and give-away for our families to choose the items they need, as well as to enjoy a hot nutritious meal

    Volunteer Bakers for bake sale in Hilo — Valentine's gift benefit at the Hilo Wal-Mart.

    OREO'S ALOHA FARM SANCTUARY - BIG ISLAND

    Oreo's Aloha Farm Sanctuary has opportunities for volunteers to give and learn caretaker's skills to become great future veterinarians. We have friendly Holstein cows and calves, fluffy cats, rabbits and a dog to walk. An organic garden waits to be planted, and volunteers can and are welcome to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
