Museum's conservation exhibit wins national honor

Advertiser Staff

The Bishop Museum has received a national design award for its Hot Spot Conservation Lab exhibit, which opened in November 2005.

Editors at Communications Arts magazine will present the museum with its prestigious annual design award of excellence later this year. The Hot Spot Lab is part of the Richard T. Mamiya Science Adventure Center.

"When we were planning the new science adventure center our goal was to create new experiences and exhibitions," said designer Dave Kemble, who led the team that created the conservation exhibit.

"We are delighted to receive this national recognition."

The conservation lab was put together over 42 months and includes 14 specimens. For more information on the exhibit, go to www.bishopmuseum.org or call 847-3511.
