Parker School will recycle your old telephone books

Advertiser Staff

If your old telephone books are starting to stack up in the corner of your home, Parker School in Waimea on the Big Island can help clear some space.

The school is participating in Hawaiian Telcom's 2007 Island of Hawai'i Telephone Book Recycling program, where you can drop off any outdated telephone directories, regardless of publisher, at Parker School's main hall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through March 24.

"Parker School is committed to supporting the protection of Hawai'i's unique environment," said Lynda Roberts, advancement associate with the school. "We believe that recycling teaches young people respect for our valuable resources, and we support efforts to reduce the number of telephone books deposited in the landfills.

"By working together as a community, we can help protect our environment and inspire our youth to do the same for many years to come."
