Warning sirens to be tested statewide Thursday

Advertiser Staff

The monthly test of warning sirens and the Emergency Alert System is slated for Thursday at 11:45 a.m.

When sirens sound residents should turn on any radio or television for emergency information and instructions issued by agencies tied to the City Department of Emergency Management.

Tests of the sirens and the Emergency Alert System are conducted simultaneously on the first working day of the month.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann last week announced the formal establishment of the new City Department of Emergency Management to replace the Oahu Civil Defense Agency.
