Top teams at Nitta baseball event

The Fifth Annual Glenn Nitta Baseball Tournament, featuring eight of the state's top teams, will be held Thursday through Saturday at various school sites.

In first-round action Thursday, Mid-Pacific will play at Castle, Kalani takes on Kamehameha at Kahala Field, 'Iolani is at Kailua and Pac-Five is at Mililani. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.

Semifinal and consolation bracket games will be played at various sites Friday, with four games scheduled at Mililani on Saturday.

The seventh place game will be at 9 a.m., followed by the third place game at 11:15 a.m., the consolation final at 1 p.m. and the championship game at 3:45 p.m.

SACRED HEARTS LOOKING FOR VOLLEYBALL COACH

Sacred Hearts Academy is searching for a qualified individual to coach the varsity volleyball team.

The Lancers won the Division II girls state championship last season.

PUNAHOU'S TAKASAKI WINS FOURTH ILH TITLE

Kara Takasaki of Punahou won the 140-pound title at Saturday's Interscholastic League of Honolulu wrestling championships, her fourth league crown.

'Iolani's Carla Watase (108 pounds) and Hoku Nohara (220) also won their fourth ILH titles Saturday.

The state championships are set for Friday and Saturday at Blaisdell Arena, with the girls finals set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday and the boys finals at 6:30 p.m.
