Ladyfest hosting Casanova Cabaret

Ladyfest Hawai'i is putting on the Casanova Cabaret on Thursday at Butigroove as a benefit for Life Founation, Hawai'i's largest and oldest AIDS organization.

The event honors the second annual National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 27 percent of all AIDS cases in the United States in 2004 occurred in women, compared with 7 percent in 1985.

The main attraction at the cabaret will be Hawai'I's first Drag King contest.

Casanova Cabaret starts at 7 p.m. Butigroove is located at 500 Pi'ikoi.

Cost is $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Proceeds after expenses will be donated to Life Foundation.
