Advertiser Staff

A 32-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday in a financial fraud investigation for allegedly using stolen information to make credit cards used to purchase more than $9,000 worth of goods.

The woman, who has no permanent local address, was identified and initially stopped by police on Pukoloa Street in Mapunapuna at 2:35 p.m. for an outstanding $250 traffic warrant.

She was later booked on three counts each of unauthorized possession of confidential information, identity theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, second-degree theft, second-degree forgery and using false statements to procure a credit card.

Police said the woman allegedly made credit cards using the identity and personal information of a 34-year-old woman before charging $2,938 at a jewelry store. She allegedly also made credit cards on two separate occasions at a hardware store in the victim's name for purchases of $1,490 and $5,010.
