Kapalama 5th-graders take on Home Energy Challenge

Approximately 50 to 60 fifth-graders will be participating in energy-awareness activities at 8 a.m. today at Kapalama Elementary School.

The Home Energy Challenge is sponsored by the Department of Education and Hawaiian Electric Company and is designed to teach students to about energy savings they can use at home.

Hawai'i Schools Superintendent Pat Hamamoto, HECO senior vice president Robbie Alm, energy spokeswoman Jade Moon, legislators and BOE members will be on hand for the competition.
