Preliminary autopsy results released yesterday found Torres died of a single shotgun blast to the head.
Police have charged a 17-year-old youth with with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, second-degree arson and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. Police are not identifying the youth because he is a minor.
Torres and the youth knew each other, but police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
Puna patrol officers found the body after being called to a report of a shooting in the Nanawale Estates area. They found the body in the burned vehicle near the shoreline in the remote Wa'awa'a area of Lower Puna.
