Gas station clerk reports bogus $50 bill

Police arrested a 42-year-old man late last night after he allegedly used a counterfeit $50 bill to buy gasoline at a Tesoro gas station at 1549 S. King St.

A 20-year-old woman clerk at the station told police the man used the bogus bill around 11:40 p.m.

Police were called and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree forgery.

Man arrested in handbag theft incident at Don Quijote

An 18-year-old man was arrested early this morning near the Don Quijote store on Makaloa Street after he allegedly stole a purse belonging to a 22-year-old store employee.

Police were told the man entered the store and ran out a short time later with the employee's handbag.

Officers arrived at the store minutes later, located a suspect and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized possession of confidential private information, credit card theft and third-degree theft.

During a search of the suspect, the officers reported finding the store employee's identification cards and her debit card.
