Grand Canyon beats Hawaii Pacific in basketball

Richard Davis scored 25 points, and hit four free-throw attempts in the final minute, as Grand Canyon (Phoenix) beat Hawaii Pacific, 54-49, Wednesday night at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.The Sea Warriors had a chance to tie, but Rishi Kakad's 3-point attempt from the right wing missed, and Davis hit two free throws with 7.7 seconds remaining for the final margin.
It was the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams.
Grand Canyon improved to 5-4; HPU dropped to 6-6.
