Bail set at $68,250 for alleged ID/credit card thief

South Kohala police arrested a 25-year-old woman Friday who is suspected of using a stolen credit card at several businesses in Kohala and Waimea.

Stephanie Azam, who has no permanent address, has been charged with seven counts of identity theft, seven counts of theft, seven counts of forgery, seven counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of theft and forgery of a card. Bail was set at $68,250.

In addition, forfeiture proceedings have been initiated for a 2001 GMC sport-utility vehicle that was recovered containing several stolen items purchased with the stolen credit card.
