Strong trade winds on tap

Strong trade winds brought on by a high pressure system passing north of the state are on the way, the National Weather Service said, and clouds and showers will continue to favor windward and mauka areas.

Today, expect partly sunny skies with scatter showers and highs 72 to 79 degrees with trade winds 15 to 25 mph and a 50 percent chance of rain.

Trade winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph tonight as temperatures drop to 63 to 71 degrees.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny with scattered showers, highs 72 to 79 with east winds 20 to 30 mph and a 50 percent chance of rain.

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, lows 63 to 70 and east winds 15 to 20 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny with scattered showers, highs 72 to 79, east winds 15 to 25 mph and a 50 percent chance of rain.
