TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"American Masters: Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens," 9 p.m., PBS. Photographer Annie Leibovitz has had a fascinating life, retold here through friends, family and, especially, subjects. The photos alone make this worth watching.

"In Case of Emergency," 8:30 p.m., ABC. Back in high school, these folks were valedictorian, class president, voted most likely to succeed and more. And now? One (Jonathan Silverman) wanders into a seedy massage parlor where another (Kelly Hu) is at work. A third (David Arquette) is considering suicide; the fourth (Greg Germann) is a noted diet doctor who was just arrested for hijacking a pastry truck in order to eat its contents. These four souls meet on one messy and funny evening. During this first episode, "In Case of Emergency" is terrific.

OF NOTE

"Sugar Bowl," 3:15 p.m., Fox. It's Louisiana State and Notre Dame.

"Friday Night Lights," 7 p.m., NBC. This well-made drama moves to Wednesdays, with crises continuing. As Matt, the substitute quarterback, prepares for the next big game, his dad returns from Iraq.

"According to Jim" season opener, 7 and 7:30 p.m., ABC. In the first episode, Jim tries to teach his son about confronting a bully. In the second, he objects to the notion of a co-ed baby shower — and ends up grumbling about it on a talk show.

"King of Queens," 7 p.m., CBS. Arthur wants braces — and wants his daughter and son-in-law to pay.

"Knights of Prosperity," 8 p.m., ABC. Some working lugs scheme to break into Mick Jagger's apartment. Jagger appears in some funny bits tonight. It's intermittently funny, with some great supporting characters — especially the massive Kevin Michael Richardson as Roosevelt Butts and Josh Grisetti as Louis Plunk, intern to a circle of crooks.
