ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Please, no more

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Some things we saw and heard in 2006 that we’d like to banish from 2007: Robin Williams voicing “that crazy animated character;” Hugh Jackman in a snow globe; “You’re Beautiful;” checking voice mail and text messages at a show after the lights go down. (Got any problems with that?)

OUT THIS WEEK

In the mood for music?

Some labels and artists are wasting no time in releasing new titles, including these:

  • "The Essential Elvis Presley" (RCA). Yet another compilation with "Hound Dog" on it. Just what you need!

  • Carly Simon, "Into White" (Columbia). Suitable for children or as a mellow, romantic soundtrack. "Simon, vocally sure-footed as ever, wicks the warmth out of every last track," says the Amazon.com review.

  • "L-Tunes: Music From and Inspired by The L-Word" (Sony). New music with a feminine bias, featuring Tori Amos, Goldfrapp, Fiona Apple, Peaches, Pink and Kelis.

    FINAL WORD

"Radio, I always viewed like candy. I love candy, but that shouldn't be the only thing you ever have."

John Mayer | singer whose latest CD is "Continuum," in Interview.
