Emergency maintenance dredging meeting set

HILO – A public information meeting on the planned emergency maintenance dredging project at Wailoa Small Boat Harbor is slated for Monday.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will host the meeting from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the County of Hawai'i Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo (former Firestone Tire store).

Staff from DLNR's Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR), Engineering Division and project contractor, American Marine Corp., will be in attendance.

Wailoa Small Boat Harbor has 50 moorings two launch ramps, a vessel washdown and a comfort station.

Recent improvements constructed at Wailoa include new accessible features such as a ramp next to the launch ramp, boat wash down areas; parking stalls, trailer parking, and alterations to the right boarding pier along the launch, in addition to parking lot improvements and installation of the fendering system.
