High surf advisory canceled

Advertiser Staff

The high surf advisory for north-facing shores has been canceled, the National Weather Service said.

Today's surf forecasa calls for surf along northern shores to decrease to 8 to 12 feet by daybreak, surf along west shores to diminish to 6 to 9 feet by sunrise, east-facing shores to see surf 4 to 7 feet and south-facing shores to see surf 2 feet or less.

The current west northwest swell will continue to decline through Saturday. A new northwest swell is expected over the weekend.

Strengthening trades winds over the next 24 hours will likely warrant a high surf advisory for the east facing shores by tonight. The advisory threshold for east facing shores is 8 feet. The large and rough surf generated by the strong trades is expected to last through the weekend.
