Dog the Bounty Hunter helps family in Las Vegas

Duane "Dog" Chapman, star of A&E's "Dog the Bounty Hunter," and his wife, Beth, aided a stranded family in Las Vegas last weekend.

The couple, in town looking for a fugitive, heard about Patricia Ambrosio, who had flown with her family from Alaska to Las Vegas on New Year's Eve to meet with her husband, who never showed up.

With no money to check into a hotel or return to Alaska, the family was staying at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission before the Chapmans set them up at the Wynn Las Vegas.

"I wish I could say a lot more," said Ambrosio in a press release, "but all I can say is thank you so much, and God bless you."

In addition to the Chapmans' aid, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, the Wynn Las Vegas and other local businesses are pitching in to help the family.

The Ambrosios now have plane tickets to return to Alaska.

"Very seldom do we get those thank you's, and I felt good," Chapman said in a press release. "This might be more gratifying and more rewarding than capturing a fugitive, so it was a great thing."

Jay Leno has invited the Chapmans to be special guests at his Las Vegas show tonight at The Mirage.
