If you're yearning for yoga, aromatherapy, massage and organic food, hele out to Waimea Valley Audubon Center for today's Optimysstique. As an alternative approach to the new year, event planner Cab Spates promises a day to focus on sustainable living.

Here's some of what's planned:

  • Demonstration on how to make shampoo from fresh hibiscus.

  • Yoga and chi kung mini-classes with Jessica Rigney, Lori Kimata and Cab Spates.

  • Music by Michael Tanenbaum (jazz and slack-key guitar), traditional African music with Reggae McGowen and Jammarek.

  • Art by Jennifer Eisenhart and Michael Cohen.

  • Chiropractic care with Vella Chiropractic.

  • Interactive cuisine and drink bar, with cooking demonstrations and recipes using local produce and tonics.

Spates suggests that those attending bring their own locally grown produce; and a swimsuit for a dip in the waterfall.
