Two dead, one injured in Big Island car crash

Two Kailua, Kona men were killed early today in a head-on collision near the 95-mile marker on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway.Big Island Traffic Enforcement Sgt. Christopher Gali said a Jeep multipurpose vehicle heading north toward Waikoloa passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided with a southbound Mitsubishi sedan.
The driver of the Jeep was identified by police as Richard B. Walsh, 23. A passenger in Walsh's vehicle, a 21-year-old man from Mountainview, was treated for injuries at Kona Hospital and released.
The identity of the 34-year-old Kailua, Kona man driving the Mitsubishi is pending confirmation.
