Advertiser Staff

A 73-year-old woman was struck by a taxi while sitting at a bus stop today and died at The Queen's Medical Center.

The accident at Kalakaua Avenue near Makaloa Street was reported to police at 4:50 p.m.

The woman died at Queen's at 8:40 p.m., said Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

The cab driver, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Queen's in serious but stable condition, according to Cheplic.

Kalakaua Avenue between Kanunu and Makaloa streets was closed in the makai-bound direction due to a police investigation.
