ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Be an In4mant

Advertiser Staff

spacer spacer

Honolulu urban-wear pioneer In4mation is about to launch its first-ever line of cut-and-sew clothing — jeans ($90, right), hoodies, an anorak. With 62 accounts around the world, the local boys are about to blow up. And they have some of the freshest T-shirts in town. Designer Rhandy Tambio has absconded to NYC (where he gets creative for Ecko, Akademik and others), but he still lets loose for In4mation — like a "Mishap" shirt that references Andy Warhol and '80s punks The Misfits. In4mation: Ward Warehouse (597-1447), 2250 Kalakaua (923-0888).

AUTEURS WANTED

With the Showdown in Chinatown film challenge a year old, there must be lots of fodder for the second annual Unity Crayons Short Film Festival. Films must be 15 minutes or shorter and fall in one of these categories: documentary, drama, comedy, adventure/action, reality, creative, music video, animation (but no public service announcements!). Here's a still from Dane Neves' entry "Surf Movie" — a "Blue Crush" spoof. Submission deadline: Jan. 31. Send your entry to: Unity Crayons Short Film Festival 2, 135 S. Kuakini St., Honolulu, HI 96813. Questions? E-mail the808scenezine@gmail.com.

HIT THE DECKS

When graphic designer Jesse Kline isn't creating ads for Laird Christianson Advertising, he likes to create a virtual Skateboard Deck of the Week. "I do it for fun, just to have a little creativity. You know, experiment a little bit," says Kline. "It's the one place where I don't have a client." Browse through the collection of decks on his Web site and you'll learn about Kline, who finds inspiration from "whatever's floating around my brain." Ohio and New Orleans — places where he's lived — make appearances, as do shells, a Renaissance painting and slogans like "I look better on MySpace." www.klineworks.com.
