Heavy showers moving toward Wai'anae Coast

Advertiser Staff

Heavy showers were moving over southwest O'ahu near Kalaeloa early this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The showers will continue moving northward over the Wai'anae Mountains, drenching the Wai'anae Coast and mountains, central O'ahu and the North Shore area until 2:30 p.m., the weather service said.

A flash-flood watch remains in effect for all Hawaiian Islands through Wednesday afternoon.

The weather service said that prolonged rain, especially thunderstorms, could saturate the soil, fill reservoirs and raise stream levels, all of which could produce local flash flooding.

A flash-flood watch is issued when weather service believes flooding is possible but not imminent.
