Sony Open qualifier postponed till tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

Qualifying for four spots in this week's Sony Open in Hawaii was postponed because of weather at Makaha Resort.

Only 15 of the nearly 80 golfers completed their rounds today.

The others will have to return 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Play was first suspended in the early afternoon because of concern over lightning and later postponed.

The four players with the lowest scorers will qualify for the this week's Sony Open in Hawaii, which starts Thursday at Waialae Country Club.

The qualifying is made up of local pros and amateurs, PGA and Nationwide Tour players and golfers from Canada, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

The Sony field already includes eight of the top 10 from last year's money list.
