Contra flow traffic lanes in place for HECO lines repair

Advertiser Staff

Police at midmorning had contra flow lanes along Kamehameha Highway near Kualoa Regional Park to allow Hawaiian Electric Co. crews enough space to repair low-hanging power lines.

The lines were blocking a lane, police said.

A section of the lines burned, which caused them to sag, said Peter Rosegg, a HECO spokesman. The cause of the problem won't be determined until after repairs are made, he said.

"We don't really know yet," he said. "It could be decay. They are trying to fix it first and then they will assess the reasons."
