Chaminade's Whiting leads all colleges in assists

Chaminade point guard Zack Whiting is showing why he was nominated for such a prestigious basketball award, the NABC Bob Cousy Award.

The 6-foot-4 senior leads all NCAA divisions in assists, averaging 12.4 per game. The average is nearly four assists better than second place Luke Cooper of Alaska-Anchorage, who is averaging 8.6 assists per contest.

Whiting is also amongst the country's best in scoring, connecting on 59.2 percent of his field-goal attempts and leading the PacWest conference in scoring at 18.8 points per game.

Whiting also is averaging 7.6 rebounds a game.

Chaminade (9-5) is back in action on Thursday as it takes on Pac West conference foe, BYU-Hawaii, at McCabe Gym on the Saint Louis School campus.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. The game will be telecast in Hawaii on OC16.
