Surf backing down a bit on north, east shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory remains in effect for all east-facing shores on O'ahu with wave faces expected to be 7 to 10 feet during the earlier hours today. The surf is then expect to decrease to 6 to 8 feet later today.

Surf along north-facing shores is also on the decline and is expected to drop to 8 to 12 feet today.

Surf today is expected to reach 4 to 6 feet along west-facing shores and 2 feet or less along south-facing shores.

The longer-term outlook calls for the the above normal northeast swell to continue to affect east-facing shores for one more day, while a moderate north swell lingers another day or two.

A new west northwest swell is due in on Thursday and will cause surf along north- and some west-facing shores to rise above advisory levels late Thursday and to continue through Saturday.
