Pauoa's Green House tour, workshops Jan. 20

Advertiser Staff

Sustainable living advocate Betty Gearen has turned her Pauoa home into a model of green living. On Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, she opens her property, known as The Green House, for a tour. Visitors will learn easy steps to take to live more sustainably in an urban environment and get their hands dirty by planting a Companion Plants Garden. Each person will receive a "green gift" from The Green House to take home. Fee: $10.

The same day, the Green House will also host an herbal tinctures workshop (1:30-3:30 p.m., $15) and a Keiki Explorer Club workshop on butterflies (1:30-3:30 p.m., $12 per parent/child team). For information and to register, e-mail thehawaiigreenhouse@hawaiiantel.net or call

524-8427.
